Instructions for Taking CME
Each CME course should take about 1 to 1.5 hours to complete.
- Each CME course generally consists of the following modules:
- Full Text Articles
- CME Quizzes
- CME courses may be accessed in the following ways:
- From the Journal: The online Table of Contents - Articles associated with a given CME course will be designated by a CME link adjacent to each article's title.
- From the Journal: The navigation box - Articles associated with a given CME course will have a CME link in their right-hand navigation box.
- From AAP Online CME - The "All Courses" navigation button provided on the homepage and at the top and bottom of each page that directs the user to a listing of CME courses.
- How to complete a CME course:
- Select the CME Course through one of the options described above.
- Read the corresponding full-text articles associated with the selected CME course in its entirety.
- After reading the articles in the course, you can access the CME test by selecting the "Quiz" links provided on the course description page, or, by following the "Next" and "Previous" arrows to move from page to page in the course.
- Complete all questions on the quiz. Select "Submit" to process your score.
- If any questions are left unanswered, you will receive an error and be asked to try again. Use the "Back" button on your browser to return to the submit page. Upon completing the question(s) missed, select the "Submit" button again.
- You may choose to "Save Quiz Progress" on a quiz if you are interrupted. You may resume the course at any time, until it expires.
- When the quiz is passed, links to the preferred answers will be highlighted.
- You may read the articles and submit the quizzes in any order. When submitting the last quiz in the course, you will be prompted to claim the amount of credit you have earned, up to the maximum allowed.
- After completing the entire course, follow links to the My CME page to access your CME summary history, courses in progress, and credits earned, along with links to printable CME certificates.
- Submitting your answers through the Rapid CME interface:
- From the Rapid CME shortcuts page, select the journal and year you wish to submit answers for.
- You will be shown answer radio buttons for courses within that journal and year that you have not completed, including those already in progress.
- You may "Submit" multiple courses at one time through the Rapid CME interface.
